A 30yr old man was taken to surgery for suspected acute appendicitis. He was administered general anesthesia consisting of halothane and succinylcholine. Suddenly the patient developed hyperthermia, muscle rigidity, tachycardia and hypertension. The anesthetist suspected that this man had Malignant Hyperthermia and successfully managed the patient with medication.
