Question Number 0858 Question: An elderly gentleman is being fed through a nasogastric tube after extensive surgery to his pharynx for treatment of an invasive squamous cell carcinoma. The surgical team is keen to start oral feeds and after assessing oropharyngeal sensation start a trial of liquified foods. Fifteen minutes after his feed the patient develops severe shortness of breath and cyanosis. On examination he has tacchycardia and has an expiratory wheeze.
