 Question Number 0683 Question: A fireman is has severe bronchospasm and chest pain two hours after being involved in controlling a fire in a warehouse factory manufacturing textile goods. On inspection he has no significant external burns but it is noted that he has several singed nasal hairs. An ECG reveals ST segment elevation. Investigations reveal a severe metabolic acidosis, an elevated central venous oxygen content and a normal arterial oxygen content. The most appropriate management at this stage would be a) normal saline with glucose b) 100% oxygen c) hyperbaric 100% oxygen d) induce a methemoglobinemia e) Silver sulfadiazine cream
