 Question Number 0730 Question: A 63 year old male has a mass in his right lung that requires a guided biopsy. After the biopsy he develops a large pneumothorax requiring insertion of a chest drain. Just minutes after insertion of the chest drain he develops sudden output of fresh blood from the drain and within an hour has lost over one liter of blood. His blood pressure falls to 60/30 and his -hematocrit to below 15%. He has a hemoglobin of 5g/dl. He is taken to theatre. Appropriate treatment would include a) plasmapheresis and plasma infusion b) half strength Normal Saline c) lactated Ringer's injection d) Packed cells e) Whole blood
